Diverse Culture, New Learning Academic Life, Better Opportunities
Support
Most students came from different places to study while finding it difficult to adjust to the college course and living life while doing their academic life. Hence, I will make a regular supportive session to listen to students who feel discriminated and excluded to ensure they are the part of the RCA. Then I would create sessions to support international students to settle in London such as providing a session about GP registration, House rent, part-time jobs, etc. Then, there will be more sessions about visa and life in London, CV, and others. I will ensure SU continue to support student groups who is practicing social justice-LGBTQ, Ethical minorities, Racism issues, Gender equality, and Disability- and claim their rights on the campus, and for their future.
Opportunities
One of the issues of the RCA shares a limited amount of open calls, residencies, etc. I would provide the space for more students to show their artwork within the college and share more information about external open calls, residences, and other opportunities to grow artistic/design experiences. The expansion of the college exhibition space and enabling more students to create their exhibitions will be considered.
Accessibility
It is not fair that the course restricts workshops, even after grads. As most of the MA dgree is reduced to 1-year course, there will be limited time to use workshops while some are closed for students in certain degrees. I will work for open access for all students regardless of their course and get equal benefits. Then, advocate the alumni access to the RCA workshops, Shops, and software for a year after grad to continue to support their artistic practices.
Academic
The crucial role of the Student Union is to support student's academic life. Therefore, I will ensure that SU will communicate clearly between students and the college for significant decisions in the college curriculums, Degree show, and Convocation to bring more benefits to students. Royal College of Art should provide the best academic environment to support learning and pioneering a new path. But the strike is a national issue that constantly happens. SU will stand for staff and sudents protesting for a better academic field and collective activism to ensure their right. While SU will also help students who may have yet to face it.
