Hi everyone, I am Lening Huang (she/her) and you can call me Renee :)
I am from the Textiles Program and one of the program representatives. Through my tenure as a representative, I learned a lot by
- carefully listening to students' thoughts,
- empathetically feeling what they feel,
- and actively helping solve issues,
together with all RCA members, including students themselves, SU, tutors, technicians, staff and beyond. Recognizing that collective action drives meaningful change, I pledge to continue amplifying student voices and advocating for their needs as your future RCASU president.
As an international student myself, I intimately understand the unique challenges we face and the resilience required to overcome them. I am deeply dedicated to supporting our international student body and all students and ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.
Drawing from my diverse internship experiences in various industries, including social media marketing, investing, and fashion magazines, I've gained valuable insights into the importance of crafting fulfilling career paths that enrich our lives and communities.
My academic journey, marked by a transdisciplinary background from Brandeis University with double majors in Chemistry and Business, has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the intersections of knowledge and creativity. Textiles, for me, represent a boundless realm for exploration and innovation, and I am committed to leveraging my diverse skill set to foster a more sustainable RCA community.
Throughout my tenure as president, I envision a future where RCA thrives on inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability.
To achieve this, I will aim at:
- Increasing accessibility to limited workshops and resources, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to pursue their passions and interests.
- Curating career-oriented workshops, lectures, and activities to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed beyond the college.
- Making efforts to create a more sustainable and regenerative environment at RCA, drawing upon my experiences as an active participant in sustainable events.
