Prosper, Together

RCA SU Vice President Manifesto

Hi, I’m Janmejay and I am currently a student of MA Digital Direction, the Representative of School of Communications, and one of the Digital Direction Representatives. Additionally, I am president of the RCA Music Society (Royal Sounds), and have been involved in bringing communication channels, organising and aiding students across all programmes and campuses to build a space where we can share and create together.

If elected as RCA Student Union Vice-President, I would like to engage actively for the well-being of students with the President. Some agendas I would like us to work towards are -

  • Defending rights of students, promote harmony and encourage and empower students to raise their concerns
  • Supporting inclusivity, accessibility and sensitivity through the college through organised events and coordination with college about ways to improve accessibility
  • Building greater awareness towards Neurodivergence and providing additional support to Neurodivergent students
  • Building campaigns around sustainability and environmental awareness
  • Funding and opportunities for students - improving pathways of access to the opportunities afforded by the College and liaise for more opportunities
  • Assisting students with integration into the culture and ethos of RCA & Helping international students adjust to the cultural nuances in the UK
  • Organising various social events and working more actively with societies at the RCA
  • Facilitating a system to allow easier access to Technical Services
  • Campaigning for free (or subsidised) access to public transport for students
  • Assisting students with cost of living crises through outreach and funds
  • Working towards provision of subsidised art supplies and materials for students
  • Building better links of students with the RCA alumni network
  • Engaging with students about the various modules at RCA for quicker discussions with tutors
  • Ensuring that resources, technical services and facilities are provided equitably across the campuses at RCA

I feel these aims would help us have a better impact, engaging the wide diaspora of students attending the RCA, and help us work with the college to provide the best learning experience for students. I have a background of digital storytelling and social activism, and have walked across many countries to promote peace, nonviolence, social and climate justice. I would like to bring communication and advocacy skills to represent the rights of students at the RCA, and work with the President of the RCA SU to ensure that we constantly engage with the students.

Yours,

Janmejay Singh
