A message from the Students' Union regarding Covid-19

We'll be keeping you informed over email and our news articles.

We are aware that this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone. We have been closely monitoring the news, and are in daily discussion with the RCA with regards to Covid-19. As the Students' Union, we have a duty of care towards our students and want to assure you we are taking your healthcare and well-being seriously. We are here to support you, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us should you have any questions or concerns.

What is the College doing?

As of the 18th of March, the College began implementing increased online delivery across all academic programmes, and as of Friday the 20th of March, all campuses are closed to students.

The College has announced a set of measures for all RCA students about online teaching and learning, including graduation and Degree Show, available here

What is the Students' Union doing?

On Tuesday the 17th of March we closed the SU Office in Kensington and we have been working from home since. We have postponed all SU events on the same day to avoid gatherings, and closed the ArtBar to prevent non-essential contact. We are continuing our usual working hours while working remotely, and we are available on email, the phone (please write to us to arrange a phone call) and Google Hangouts from 10 - 5 pm, Monday - Thursday.

In response to the College announcement, we are calling a virtual College-wide Assembly today (Friday the 20th) which will be attended by the SU and reps from all programmes, to urgently discuss the current proposal and how they should be revised. We are in constant discussions with the VCO.

What should you do?

As health is most important, we are asking everyone to practice social distancing even if you are not showing any symptoms. Full guidelines on social distancing measures can be found here, and we encourage everyone to read them. In summary, slowing down the rate of transmission relies on strictly reducing contact with other people and all non-essential travel.

You may be finding yourself in very challenging circumstances. Student Support are still available on email and Google Hangouts, and you should contact them at student-support@rca.ac.uk if you’re struggling. Please don't go it alone.

We are working urgently to represent student concerns to College Management.

Look after yourself at this time, stay in touch with family and friends, and be kind to yourself and others.
