SustainLab is a student-led society formed to support the increasing urge to bring sustainability closer to the methods practiced in the College.
SustainLab is a collaborative platform for all RCA students to explore what sustainability is and how it can be progressed. It is a middle ground for ideas to be challenged, investigated, experimented, and shared.
What We Do:
SustainLab organises events, workshops and biweekly open-crits for students to develop their knowledge of sustainability and how to incorporate it into their creative processes.

Who We Are:
SustainLab is now in its fourth year and is currently run by: Sille Eva Bertelsen and Marisa Ferreira
SustainLab was originally co-founded in 2017 by Becky Miller, Anna Laura-Schlimm, Neta Steingart and Libby Landenberg. Run in 2018-2019 by Rebecca Lardeur and Kenneth Arnold, and in 2019-2020 by Abigail Burt, Betty Brunfaut, Charlotte dos Santos, Teresa Chadwick, Soes Hejselbaek, Maia Magoga and Andrea Popyordanova.
Where we came from:
SustainLab was set up in response to the closure of the college’s own SustainRCA department back in 2016. Recognising the importance of maintaining a dedicated space for sustainability, the intention of the society was to support, champion and nurture a critical sustainability mindset in the artists and designers of the future.
